Slate's Brendan I. Koerner has figured out that the three safest states in America -- in terms of extreme weather: hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, mudslides, wildfires, volcanoes, torrential rains, floods, etc. -- are Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island.
And the safest place of all: Connecticut, specifically "the area in and around Storrs, Conn., home to the University of Connecticut".
