That's Obama's lead over McCain in the latest CBS/NYT poll: 53 to 39. And the internals look good, too. He's ahead of McCain by 18 points among independents.
At Open Left, Chris Bowers, averaging out twelve recent polls, including this one, has Obama up by 8 points.
Either way, whatever the more accurate figure, Obama seems to have, at this moment, a commanding lead.
(It helps that McCain's vicious attacks have largely backfired.)
