Mrs. C has rightly pointed out that my posts lately are more anti-McCain than pro-Obama. So, with that in mind, here are a few reasons why I like Barack Obama:
1) He was editor of Harvard Law Review
I went to St. John's Law School. A decent mid-level law school. I knew the editor of St. John's Law Review. He was smart-beyond-smart. Now, take that mid-level law school smart-beyond-smart and multiply that by infinity and you get editor-of-Harvard-Law-Review smart. That's Barack Obama. That's the level of smart I want in charge of this country.
2) His single mom upbringing
There is no silver spoon issue with Barack Obama. He is one of us. He fought his way to where he is right now and that impresses me.
3) His community organizing
The man is willing to get down and dirty with real people. America needs more selfless actors. America needs more community. If Barack Obama can bring just a bit of that spirit into the presidency, America, and the world, will be a much better place.
More soon (and feel free to add on in the comments).
Update: This is exactly what I'm talking about. Obama gets it.
