I haven't touched the Hillary "misspeak" on Bosnia yet [see Michael's take here], but now that the story has moved from the blogs to the media at large I guess it's worth a mention.
First, I don't think it was a misspeak (as Hillary categorized it last night). I think it was a conscious effort to puff up her resume in a commander-in-chief sort of way. A puffing I don't necessarily damn her for, except for the fact that she had no need to do it, and therein lies the rub.
Hillary could have run on her Senate record and no one would have batted an eye. However, the majority of her foreign-policy puffing (Bosnia, Northern Ireland, etc.) came after she raised the bar by undercutting Obama and his lack of experience, his lack of commander-in-chief-ness, his unworthiness to sit at the adult table with her and John McCain. She set herself up for this blowback. She's kneecapped herself in the primaries, and, worse, if she does managed to convince the superdelegates to cast their lot with her, she possibly mortally wounded herself against the media-darling, war-hero McCain.
