The Reaction in review (June 21, 2009)

The weekend's Reactions on the crisis in Iran that deserve a second look:

Sunday

By Michael J.W. Stickings: "The latest from Iran" -- (late Sunday night) Michael predicts that the ruling regime of clerics is preparing the ground for the arrest of Mir Hossein Mousavi, and includes good links to the hard news.

By MSS: "So they are one now?" -- The author points out the interesting fact that "it is rare for an authoritarian regime to tolerate the defeat of an incumbent president and yet remain authoritarian."

By Creature: "Truth in Comics" -- A wonderfully ironic cartoon is Creature's choice for today.

Saturday

By Creature: "All in" -- Creature concludes with this, with which we all can identify: "The bravery and resolve of the Iranian people is impressive and humbling."

By Michael J.W. Stickings: "Where is Obama (On Iran, the world is watching, and waiting)" -- Michael's wonderfully nuanced analysis, of the diplomatic difficulties facing Predident Obama as he reacts the the tinderbox situation in Iran, is worth the read.

By Michael J.W. Stickings: "The women of Iran" -- Michael links to a CNN feature on Iran's passionately involved women, who are "profiles in courage."
